Job Description – Manufacturing Engineer *LT Contract Position

Manufacturing Engineer Responsibilities:

The Manufacturing Engineer will work to gain a deep understanding of all of production processes through review of engineering materials, coordination with managers and assemblers, and through hands-on learning. The Manufacturing Engineer will work with the production manager and department supervisors on optimization of current production processes, prototype new production processes, propose and perform continuous improvement projects, and analyze the causes of and develop responses to non-conformances. The Manufacturing Engineer will also work with our design engineers to ensure design for manufacturability is maintained in new product designs.

Responsibilities may also include assisting the production manager with workflow supervision, production planning, developing and/or optimizing work instructions using Adobe InDesign, assisting the quality manager with non-conformance processes, calibrations, and other quality requirements, and performing production-related ERP functions (part descriptions, bills of manufacture, process routings, etc.).

Manufacturing Engineer Requirements:

Candidates for this position must have at least a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or a related major and 0-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Candidates must have a strong mechanical aptitude and must be proficient with basic hand and power tools.

Manufacturing Engineer Desired Skills and Experience:

The optimal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical systems and materials, be able to build and take apart electromechanical assemblies, be able to read and understand engineering models/drawings (SolidWorks) and have experience in prototyping and experimentation. Experience with machining/fabrication, soldering operations, molding operations, and/or familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma tools and processes is desired, but not required.
