6 Month Contract

Pay rate: $55-65/hr W2

Marine Systems is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Design Engineer researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as mechanical, hydraulic or heat transfer systems for component level testing of production hardware. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines. This position focuses on mechanical design and general engineering of a component level hydraulic breakthrough fixture that utilizes a mechanism and hydraulic actuator to simulate breakthrough loads for testing a weapon system closure. Activities include developing new designs from concept, thru detailed design, manufacture and test phases. Job requirements also include supporting fixture assembly and the component test team.

Basic Qualifications:
· Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) discipline with 5 or more years engineering experience; Masters of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 3 or more years of experience
· Computer skills including developing designs using solid modeling software, such as NX is required.
· A working knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 drawing standards and geometric tolerance is also necessary
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in an interactive group environment are essential
· Must be fluent in mechanical engineering principles, and must be proficient in developing design concepts, performing trades-studies, and conducting supporting evaluations and analyses

Preferred Qualifications:
· Hydraulic actuator experience
· Weldment Design
· Machined Part Design
· Mechanism design experience
· Hardware fabrication and assembly
· Hands on mechanical skills
· Experience with data collection / testing / instrumentation preferred
