Senior Mechanical Machine Designer

Description:
Senior Mechanical Machine Designer - Location Agawam, MA
(Springfield, MA area)

Non-Exempt

Qualifications:
-5-7+ years’ experience in mechanical machine design
-Minimum 2 years or higher degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering
-Must possess machine design experience, preferably with machine tool accessories/equipment
-Understanding of manufacturing processes relative to components designed
-Able to create working detail drawings of parts accurately and efficiently for manufacture
-Proficient with SolidWorks 3D CAD including sheet metal design and weldments
-Drafting experience required
-Experience with pneumatic cylinders, air cylinder driven equipment highly desirable
-Experience with electric drives, timing belts highly desirable
-Experience with robotic end-of-arm tooling highly desirable
-Knowledge or experience with Swiss type lathes, Citizen and/or Miyano machines a plus
-Proficient with MS Office Word and Excel
-Able to work with periodic/minimal supervision and guidance
-Able to work effectively both individually and as part of a team
-Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
-Hands-on experience or aptitude required

Job Responsibilities:
-Create and maintain mechanical equipment layouts, assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOM), design mechanical components/mechanisms, and create construction documents of designed components (detail drawings)
-Enter component and BOM information into our ERP system
-Communicate with vendors and fabricators for parts sourcing
-Responsible for mechanical assembly and testing of prototypes
-Coordinate build and purchasing activities internally with suppliers
-Create project documentation, including manuals
-Provide technical support to troubleshoot
-Some travel to customer’s facility will be required – 5%
