Senior Manager Propulsion & Fuel Systems

Description:
General Summary:
The Senior Manager of Propulsion & Fuel Systems is responsible to lead, and manage the day to day activities of the Propulsion & Fuel Systems Engineering Team to meet Program objectives. This team is responsible for the design integration of the engine, engine control system, and fuel system with the aircraft both mechanically and electronically. This includes managing the engine and fuel systems suppliers, defining and managing mechanical and electrical interfaces, and defining requirements for aircraft cockpit displays and indications to ensure safe and compliant operation, in line with all regulatory requirements and guidance material under both normal and abnormal operating conditions.

The scope of responsibility includes New Product Development and the Sustaining activities of the existing fleet.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Communicates effectively in both verbal and written format. Candidate should have strong presentation skills, and able to adjust communication content and approach based on audience.
2. Manages the task execution of the team to ensure on-schedule & to requirements completion.
3. Exercises tested and proven techniques to determine problem root cause and develop corrective action plans and solutions.
4. Coaches, develops, and motivates team members to achieve full potential.
5. Ensures the team works efficiently, and produces work of a high technical standard, that is fully vetted before presenting to company leadership, company DER’s or certification authorities.
6. Has a process improvement mentality, but equally a focus on design improvement and product innovation.
7. Identifies resource problems early, takes corrective action within team, or justifies need for additional resources, or support from other teams, based on quantitative analysis.
8. Interface with engine & fuel system suppliers to manage new design or enhance existing designs to meet aircraft level performance, weight, certification and cost requirements.
9. Support supplier qualification testing, and HACI flight testing as required.
10. Able to manage the certification requirements of major and minor design change projects.
11. Set departmental objectives and conduct evaluations, to ensure team is held accountable for their personal performance.



Education, Work Experience, Certification and/or Licensure:
1. BS in a related Engineering discipline, with 10-15 years directly related experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role.
2. Previous aerospace experience at aircraft OEM and / or engine manufacturer, with experience in a similar role.
3. Some Travel may be required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Familiar with industry documentation for design, test, and certification of propulsion and fuel systems
2. Familiarization with both Part 33 & Part 23 FAR requirements (Or Part 33 & Part 25)
3. Familiar with Industry standards such including DO-160, DO-178, DO-254, MIL-HDBKs and SAE ARPs, including 4761 & 4754A.
4. Familiar with analytical & design tools and processes.
5. Proven record of leading and managing diverse engineering teams to achieve objectives.
6. Proficient in Microsoft Office Products.

Physical Requirements:
1. Incumbents may be occasionally exposed to equipment operational noise heat-cold-dust, and/or aircraft equipment, parts, or fuel odors.
2. Position involves primarily desk work with a computer.
3. Work in a safe and professional manner while adhering to all regulatory requirements (FAA, OSHA, DOT, EPA, State, and Federal regulations, etc.).
4. Comprehend and adhere to management directions and/or safety instructions with no restrictions.
5. Effectively communicate in Business English language.
6. Pull, push, carry, lift, or move items up to 10 lbs. throughout the work shift without assistance, as required by job duties.
