Technical Trainer - A&P

Description:

We are seeking a qualified Technical Trainer with extensive experience in aircraft manufacturing/production and fabrication.

Must have A&P License.

This position is responsible for assisting with designing, developing, presenting, evaluating, coordinating, and implementing curriculum / training and OJT programs in accordance with engineering drawings/instructions, technical specifications, and OEM documentation.

The candidate must have a desire to learn, enthusiasm for the space industry, and be able to mix existing aerospace experience with space line maintenance training support.

Outside of conducting training courses and evaluating student performance, the trainer will work hands on along with supervisors and technicians to produce top quality aircraft and spaceships and contribute to process improvement using lean processes and tools.

This role is located in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Daily work will take place at Spaceport America in New Mexico. Applying candidates must be willing to relocate to Las Cruces, New Mexico in-order-to qualify for this role.

Your Mission:

Provide industry leading training to the technical team.

The Technical Trainer position will report directly to the Sr. Director, Technical Training and Workforce Planning.

The ideal candidate should:

    Possess experience in instructing and evaluating trainees on complex, aerospace content. Design and develop student examinations; revise lesson plans to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date. Maintain certification records on trained personnel. Collaborate with a variety of subject matter experts to create and update formal online, virtual, and live training courses for highly technical subjects. Supports the management of technical training delivered in the Learning Management System (LMS) including input and scheduling of technical skills training courses. Design and develop immersive and experiential learning that reinforces the Virgin brand and culture. This will include on-the-job, instructor-led, eLearning, and virtual solutions. Use technology and graphical tools to design and develop training content to create learner-centric, performance-based instructional materials using the ADDIE model. Create course outlines, lesson plans, storyboards, instructor, and participant materials. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Desired Skills:

    Knowledge and understanding of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies for classroom-based, self-guided, and virtual training. Must have a general technical understanding of division/subsidiary/affiliate product(s) and the ability to read, understand, and integrate technical writing source material into training curriculum. Must possess the ability to organize, schedule and coordinate multiple work phases; determine the appropriate approach at the task or project level; and have experience demonstrating a general application of training practices, techniques, and standards. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Experience with web-authoring tools, graphics design, and multimedia to include Adobe Captivate, Audacity, and PowerPoint and create SCORM files.

Who You Are:

    Develop and implement training schedules, recurrent training requirements and qualification standards Develop quality, effective, realistic, and relevant training material. Desire to create impactful training Must be able to read & understand engineering drawings, material specification and process specifications. Knowledge of industry standards is beneficial Assist with training material to meet new training requirements and to keep technical information up to date Assist with classroom training and OJT programs Assist with new hire in-processing Input/maintain personnel training records in the LMS Software Track personnel currency in the LMS Software, as requested Assist in the development of the technical publications Assist in the design and development of the maintenance training aids Share your working knowledge and experience with training software, training records software amongst the Training Team Minimum 4 years of college level education OR,
      minimum of 2 years of college experience with 4 years of military/aerospace or aviation experience
    Must have valid A&P license Must be familiar with procedures applicable to the various phases of maintenance Must be able to work under pressure and fast paced environment Good communication, organization/time management, planning and training skills Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, SharePoint

Preferred Skills and Experience:

    A minimum of 3-year of classroom instruction experience is Line maintenance experience desired. Composites training facilitation and or development a plus Working knowledge of SCORM and ADDIE Knowledge of AR/VR training technologies Experience on narrow body and/or business jet aircraft preferred Avionics/Electrical Knowledge a plus. Project planning, management is helpful Ability to work individually or integrate as part of a team and with other departments. Previous experience with LMS management is beneficial 5 + years of extensive experience with composites or aircraft assembly preferred. 2 + years of demonstrated success training other staff. Strong skills in MS Office suite (Word/Outlook/PowerPoint) Knowledge of lean manufacturing philosophies and tools a plus. Education/formal training equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Aerospace or related technical field strongly preferred.
