Summary:
This position is to support the C-17 military cargo aircraft operated around the world. The candidate will perform in-service investigations and root cause corrective action analyses for Propulsion Systems. Solutions will be developed and implemented for a variety of technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. This position requires general design knowledge, including digital modeling, configuration control, material selection, geometrical dimensioning, and basic structural analysis. Improvements to technical data will be reviewed for merit and source data will be developed to support publication of changes in the C-17 Technical Orders. Technical presentations will be developed and presented to internal and external customers. Use various digital modeling tools to design, analyze, test/simulate propulsion sub-systems and components to meet all design and performance criteria. Provide technical support for fielded systems to assure continued reliability and airworthiness. Support definition, coordination and control of the functional and physical interfaces between the propulsion system and the air vehicle. Support development of specifications and configuration concepts for associated systems and components to meet customer and air vehicle specification requirements. Support development of concepts for future propulsion systems to meet anticipated requirements. Successful candidate makes use of and applies mechanical engineering practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts for sound technical judgment, overall quality, and customer satisfaction. Work is performed under general direction. Assists to develop, integrate and document propulsion system requirements to establish the system design Develops, maintains and modifies propulsion system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle. Develops test plans to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications Assists with supplier development, test, production, and component repair activities to optimize the design and achieve performance goals. Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
Desired Skills:
B.S Degree in one of the STEM programs 4+ years of experience in the following 3D Modeling Repair Design Experience Mechanical and Structure background System Integration
GD&T dimensioning and or engineering is a plus Experience with drawing changes is a huge plus Structures and systems integration experience but not required U.S. person which is required to fulfill Export Compliance
