Packaging / Design Engineer - Level 3

Location: Canoga Park, CA
Pay Rate: DOE
Job Type: 6 Month Contract
Schedule: First Shift

**Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen without Dual Citizenship**
**Our client mandates that all employees and contractors must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19**
**Hybrid schedule, 2 days on site**
**Some business travel may be needed, minimal (may visit some local suppliers)**
**Possibility this role could convert to direct hire**

Duties:
Design Engineer:
-Must be able to create packaging designs for, as well as modify designs of liquid rocket propulsion hardware associated to high pressure and high temperature static structures, combustion systems and high-pressure valve systems.
-Majority of work will be to develop Packaging Designs and develop and maintain component and assembly layouts, designs/CAD models, and drawings using Creo5 CAD and Windchill PLM systems.
-Minimum 5 years of experience with military & aerospace transportation packaging design and product definition creation for multiple types of protective covers, closures, and specialized shipping and/or handling containers.
-Ability to determine packaging requirements or needs based on nature of hardware, budget constraints, legal requirements, and shipping/storage variables to ensure preservation of hardware.
-Understand and account for the impact of loads, moisture, weather, chemicals, and foreign object debris (FOD) on packaging designs.
-Work close with IPT to modify existing designs to develop, simplify, improve manufacturing or engineering operations.
-Must have working knowledge of multiple MIL-STD and ASTM packaging specifications. Including specific knowledge of the following standards and specifications: ASTM 3951, MIL-STD-2073, MIL-STD-1686, MIL-STD-648, and should be familiar with the Packaging and Marking Guide for DoD, and NASA Procedures and Guidelines NPG 6000.1E.
-Requires hands on experience working and coordinating with industry packaging manufacturers and suppliers on design approaches, material selection and availability, fabrication processes, and program schedule or milestone requirements.

Skills:
-Candidates must have significant experience with Creo & GD&T.
-Higher level certifications are preferred.
-Windchill experience strongly preferred.

Education:
-BS degree in an Engineering field or equivalent field.
-MS degree is desired.
