Senior Electrical Firmware Engineer

Description:
A Senior Electrical Firmware Engineer job in Austin, TX is currently available through Belcan. This is a Direct Hire role. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced role, and able to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a small team environment. This candidate will have broad responsibility and ownership serving as a subject matter expert on New Product Introduction (NPI) projects from proposal through qualification testing. Senior Electrical Firmware Engineer job duties:

* Perform detailed electrical/electronic design and development of embedded control systems in support of product lines such as actuation systems, turbo generators, power generation, conversion and distribution and micro thrust turbines.
* Develop detailed system performance models using MATLAB/SIMULINK (or equivalent)
* Allocate system requirements to components and subsystems
* Collaborate with hardware engineering to design, develop, and implement electronic hardware architecture, including design review and firmware impact assessment: including, motor control logic (BLDC, FOC) using DSP/FPGA technology, power electronics for motor control, rectification, and distribution, integration of various sensors used in closed loop control systems (resolver, VDT, pressure, current, HED)
* Design and develop firmware and software to support the systems/technologies mentioned above
* Perform validation and verification of product requirements

Qualifications:

* Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Computer Engineering from an accredited college or university, required; Master's Degree in Engineering preferred
* 8+ years of experience designing and developing Motor controls and electromechanical control systems, systems with common aerospace communication interfaces (RS-485/CAN, etc), Real-time systems
* Experience with: C/assembly in embedded electronic systems, Failure investigation and formal RCCA activities, Safety and reliability assessment (MTBF/FTA, etc), Aerospace configuration management and control
* Familiarity with certification and compliance considerations (FAA, EASA)
* Knowledge of common CAE tools (Solidworks, Altium)
* Understanding of common Object-Oriented Programming languages (C++, Java)
* Basic understanding of common HDL (VHDL/Verilog)
* Prior experience working in an aerospace quality control (AS9100) and manufacturing environment, preferred
* Occasional travel required
* Must be a US Citizen-NO SPONSORSHIP AVAILABLE
