Customer Quality Engineer

osition Summary:

The Customer Quality Engineer supports strategic customer accounts with direct customer interface to drive quality improvement, responding to customer issues with crisp communication, and providing strong problem resolution. Responsible for maintaining customer contracts regarding all quality related activities during product development, product release, production start and series production. Coordinate analysis of products in response to customer complaints, initiating rapid corrective measures and the establishment of permanent corrective actions to improve process, service and products.



Primary Responsibilities:

Analyze, solve and control complex production quality problems on time to meet the customer requirements.
Handles Production Part Approval Process and provide documents to customer
Conducts measurement system analysis and statistical process control for key processes
Ensures a smooth and timely launch of new and changed products
Handles customer returns and uses Sensata tools to provide frequent status updates to affected customers
Works effectively with test, design, product, and planning engineers, regional quality engineers, regional planners, regional technical sales representative and marketing representatives to solve customer challenges and provide answers
Coordinates project teams to ensure a successful launch of new products. It should be made clear what the customer experts and in detail elaborated how this can be achieved. After this process monitoring should take place on correct implementation
Key participant in planning, implementing and managing compliance of manufacturing and production processes with internal and external safety, quality and regulatory standards requirements for worldwide distribution
Works with quality inspection supervisors to train and oversee inspectors in their use of control forms, procedures, and correcting quality problems


Job Requirements:

A successful candidate must have/be:

5+ years in an aerospace manufacturing environment
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Mechanical/ Aerospace Engineering or Military training in Avionics preferred
Act independently
Be able to make decisions within company policy.
Have analytical problem-solving skills
Assists in planning activities related to the inspection functions in order to meet company standards and methods
Prioritizes schedules based on product introduction and manufacturing schedules, maintaining a minimum turnaround time
May analyze and diagnose parts, processes, and equipment problems to expedite corrective action
Develops and implements procedures to prevent recurrences and interruption of production processes
May outline and implement training procedures for employees in the inspection operation such as drawings, prints, schematics and quality assurance standards.
Performs production and/or quality control audits
Maintains liaison with quality control and/or suppliers and customers to assure control of quality of incoming and outgoing items
Conduct vendor evaluation audits to determine if qualified
May support the design center with quality plans for new product releases
May coordinate the disposition of rejected materials
Ability to understand and apply statistical and business improvement tools to improve and sustain business results
Strong organizational, practical mathematical (statistical) skills, analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication, presentation, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to conceptualize, analyze, plan and organize projects
Reasoning skills for problem identification and resolution
Knowledge and ability to understand and apply process audit principles
Experience in quality control program operations, to include standards & measurement techniques.
Ability to apply quality control theories and principles to an operational environment
Six Sigma or Lean skills and tools exposure advantageous
Ability to communicate fluently, both written and verbal, read and write in English
Have the ability to work in a matrix environment across multiple departments
Have solid computer skills, be proficient with MS Word, Excel, and ERP systems (JDE experience preferred.)
Able to lift 20 lbs. routinely with or without a reasonable accommodation
Able to change schedule in order to meet business needs.
