6 Month Contract or Contract to Hire

Pay Rate: $32- $35 /hr

Mechanical Assembly Experience, Team Worker, Critical Thinking & Teachable. Soft skills will be key. Will need to have strong communication skills, and be able to take initiative. Will be working with a variety of skill levels, and will need to learn NGIS specific products. Trainability is key .Resumes w/ RF Tech exp. are not relevant. Position is supporting solar arrays/space side of business. If cand. has ONLY electrical assembly exp, they will NOT work. Cand must have strong mechanical assembly exp. Mechanical assembly AND Electrical Assembly exp is ok. Cand. w/ background in aerospace is preferred, but service tech, automotive mechanics, etc. translate well. Will use tools such as torque wrench, treaded fasteners, caliper, and micrometers.

**Sample interview questions include: Describe what an engineering drawing contains. (Looking for exp reading drawings.) Basic assembly questions such as how to put items together, what tools are used, and what pitfalls to avoid. What is torque? How is a torque wrench used? Will ask about adhesive bonding exp, how to prep surfaces, products used, etc. Looking not only for technical ability, but also problem solving and communication skills.**

** Our facility in Goleta, CA is seeking an Engineering Technician with relevant aerospace industry experience working on small, medium and/or large government and commercial programs. Must be able to read and follow written instruction as well as interpret and apply technical drawing views and notes.
• Must be organized and accountable for personal workload.
• Must be diligence in maintaining paperwork associated with hardware assemblies so as to maintain traceability.
• Requires experience following procedures but also able to work with engineers to create new processes.
• Knowledgeable with structural bonding and application of coatings using various epoxy and silicone adhesive products.
• Working level understanding of force, torque, and precision hand tools.
• Organizational ability to follow, or determine, optimum order of assembly for complex structures and devices.
• Familiarity with electrical harness assemblies is preferred, including ability to interpret and work to electrical assembly schematics as well as basic electrical tests such as continuity and insulation resistance.
• 4 years or more documented experience in technical work. Aerospace experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equal - Junior college, trade school or university preferred.
The majority of the work will involve: Mechanical assembly including threaded fastener and adhesive bonding using hand tools like torque wrenches, digital levels, calipers, force gauges. The materials for the work will be composite panels, solar cells, and machined parts
Position will start as 1st Shift, but looking for candidates open to a 2nd shift (~1pm - 10pm)
